As a researcher, I am interested in various areas of probability. Since my doctoral studies, I have been working on the behavior of stochastic processes under constraints. This is a classic field, which can be traced back at least to Doob's work in the 1950s. It plays an important role both in theory and in applications. Originally, I focussed on conditioning Brownian motion and related Markov processes on rare events. More recently, I shifted my main focus in this field towards similar conditioning problems for (non-Markovian) stationary Gaussian processes and for branching Brownian motions.

Beyond that, I decided to significantly diversify my research after completing my doctorate. There are so many exciting phenomena to discover in the world of probability. Currently, I am involved in projects dealing with quadratic chaos for heavy-tailed distributions, with statistical properties of random permutations and with hydrodynomic limits of interacting particle systems. Besides, I am studying probabilistic foundations of machine learning.
