Research
I am interested in all kinds of mathematical problems connected with probability. Originally, I have focussed on conditioning stochastic processes on rare events. More recently, I diversified my research towards areas ranging from branching processes to heavy-tailed distributions, from random permutations to foundations of machine learning.
In the last semesters, I lectured and examined various courses at Paderborn University in my own responsibility. On recommendation of the student council, I was awarded with the 2023 Departmental Athene Award for Good Teaching in Mathematics at TU Darmstadt.
Teaching
In 2024, I passed my doctoral examination in mathematics at TU Darmstadt with distinction. Since 09/2025, I have been a postdoctoral research fellow at Technion, the Israel Institute of Technology. For this purpose, Paderborn University granted me leave from my employment as a scientific associate.
